Case Study: Level 3 Home Survey in Southport with Drone Imagery

Project Details

ASL was instructed to carry out a Level 3 Home Survey on a substantial detached period property in Southport, offering habitable space across four levels, including the basement, ground floor, first floor, and converted attic. Due to the size, age, and complexity of the building, a detailed inspection was essential to fully understand its condition.

During the survey, we identified a number of age-related issues, which are common in properties of this type. These included damp penetration in the basement, often a result of poor ventilation and historic waterproofing methods, as well as damp below chimney breasts in the upper floor bedrooms, likely linked to degraded flashings or disused flues. Our report provided a clear explanation of the defects, their likely causes, and practical recommendations for remedial action.

A Level 3 survey is ideally suited to older, larger, or more complex homes, especially where refurbishment or significant investment is planned. ASL’s detailed reports offer clarity and peace of mind, helping buyers make informed decisions about repairs, negotiations, or future maintenance planning.
